Vol. 138 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Generating Station.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if a definite decision has been reached as to theexact location of the proposed generating station for the Iveragh peninsula; and, if so, when the erection of the station is likely to begin.

There are two stations for the generation of electricity to be erected in the Iveragh peninsula. One will be a hydro station and the other will be fired by hand-won turf. With regard to the location of these stations I refer the Deputy to announcements already made in this connection. The exact location of each station will be determined by technical considerations.

Will the Minister state whether the exact location has yet been determined for the turf-generating station?

South Kerry. The exact site of the station will be determined by the E.S.B.

Did the Minister not state on another occasion that it would be in Kells, near Cahirciveen?

In the vicinity of Kells.

That will still be the location?

There is no change as far as I know.
