Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Automatic Telephone Exchanges.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state what telephone exchanges outside the cities of Dublin and Cork and the borough of Dún Laoghaire are automatic and what exchanges will be converted to the automatic system during the current year.

The automatic exchanges outside the Dublin and Cork Corporation areas and the Dún Laoghaire Borough area are as follows:—

Waterford, Dundalk, Bray, Mitchels-town, Carrickmacross, Mhuine Bheag, Tullow, Castleisland, Trim, Castlecomer, Dunboyne, Foxrock, Dundrum, Malahide, Rush, Swords, Lusk.

As regards the second part of the question, conversion to automatic working of the following exchanges is planned during the current financial year:—

Athlone, Cobh, Nenagh, Tramore, Ardee, Cahir, Blarney, Croom, Maynooth, Clondalkin, Sutton, Howth, Tallaght, Castleknock.
