Vol. 138 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Flooding.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that severe flooding is being caused in parts of Fenit Island, County Kerry, as the new embankment erected in 1949 was not extended for a further 50 yards; and, if so, if he will now state if his Department will allocate the necessary money to extend the embankment.

While the Land Commission have no responsibility for the protection of lands at Fenit Island, they nevertheless erected a sea wall on the south western side of the island by means of an ex-gratia grant in 1949. The question of extending the wall for the purpose of providing additional protection is at present being examined.
