Vol. 138 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage Workers' Wages.

asked the Minister for Finance if he has received representations in regard to the rates of wages of workers on the Brick and Cashen drainage scheme; and whether he is aware of the dissatisfaction among the workers at the inadequate increase of 1d. per hour authorised by his Department; and, if so, what action he proposes to take in the matter.

Representations have been received in this matter. I am, however, unable to agree that the increase of 1d. an hour which has been granted with effect as from 23rd February, 1953, is inadequate, and I would point out that the workers concerned had previously received an increase of 1d. an hour from 15th September, 1952.
