Vol. 138 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Patients' Rations.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state what is the daily food ration provided for adult male inmates in Cork City and Dublin City county homes and the cost of the ration per head.

As the reply to the question is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, a Cheann Comhairle, with your permission, to circulate it with the Official Report.

The reply is as follows:—

Separate dietary scales are not in operation for male and female residents in the home sections of St. Finbarr's Hospital, Cork, and St. Kevin's Institution, Dublin, but the foods shown below are provided weekly in the quantities indicated for each adult. The allocation of these quantities to particular days of the week varies from time to time. The average cost of food, etc., is not calculated separately for the hospital and home sections of the institutions: the figures of cost shown below represent the estimated average cost per head for the entire institution in each case.
