Vol. 138 No. 16

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business as on the Order Paper: Items Nos. 8, 2, 6, 7, 9—Votes 56 and 57.

Could the Tánaiste say how far the Government have got with the Workmen's Compensation (Amendment) Bill?

If the Deputy will co-operate with the Government in disposing of the business now before the Dáil it will expedite the appearance and enactment of that Bill.

In other words, an invitation to shut up.

We have not seen it yet.

On the last occasion on which I asked as to the whereabouts of this Bill I was told it was in the hands of the parliamentary draftsman, who was stated to be submerged in work. The parliamentary draftsman has no function in this House in relation to the discussion on the Budget Resolution. So far we have not seen the Bill. We have to see it before we can consider passing it. What has the Tánaiste to say now about the Bill? Surely the Budget discussion is not impeding the parliamentary draftsman from completing the Bill? We were promised this Bill in a fortnight two months ago. I hope the Minister will not become impetuous if I ask him, two months after the promise was made, where is the Bill?

The Bill will appear in due course.

I would like to ask the Tánaiste does he propose to move the writ for Wicklow?

I will tell the Deputy when it is convenient.

Will the Tánaiste inform his outrider, Deputy Cogan, who heard on Monday what we were going to do in reference to the matter?

You can do nothing about it.

Can the Tánaiste not give an indication as to whether the Government propose to move the writ for Wicklow?

What business is that of yours?

Toujours la politesse.

The people would like to know.

We do not want to see you wiped out.

Why not move the writ for Wicklow?

A lot of the boys seem to be cross.

I thought the Taoiseach was giving a signal.

I would like to see the signal from the other side.

When is it proposed to circulate the Bill to increase special allowances and disability pensions?

It will be circulated shortly.

May I ask your permission to raise on the Adjournment Question No. 30 on the Order Paper of the 13th May, addressed to the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs?

I will communicate with the Deputy.

The Deputy was enjoying his holidays.
