Vol. 139 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - West Cork Unemployment.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state whether, in view of the general situation at present existing in the Kilcaskin and Beara areas regarding unemployment and emigration, he proposes to put any schemes into operation to alleviate the position.

As indicated in my reply to a somewhat similar question on 18th February last, the moneys available in the Employment and Emergency Schemes Vote are primarily intended to provide a spell of employment during the winter months to men in receipt of unemployment assistance.

I am not aware of any conditions obtaining in the areas referred to by the Deputy which would warrant special consideration.
