Vol. 139 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Issue of Stamps.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether, with reference to his replies to my questions of some months ago requesting that special stamps should be issued to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the arrest, trial and death of Robert Emmet, he will now state if a decision, as intimated in his reply of 26th February last, has yet been arrived at; further, if he will ensure that the stamps will be available in the months in which the events commemorated took place and that the issue is not delayed until late in the year.

As stated in my speech on the Post Office Estimates on the 30th April last arrangements are being made to issue a special stamp to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the death of Robert Emmet. The stamp will be issued in the 3d. and 1/3 denominations and it is hoped that it will be available for sale in August next.
