Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cost of German Trawlers.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state (1) the details of the all-in cost to An Bord Iascaigh Mhara of the three German trawlers purchased by them in 1952; (2) the weight and value of fish landed by these trawlers, and (3) the all-in cost of production of the fish landed.

I am informed by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara that the particulars asked for by the Deputy are as follows:—The all-in cost of the three vessels was £65,903, comprising purchaseprice, £50,250; alterations and overhauls, £5,534; additional equipment, £3,239; gear, £2,093; delivery cost (including wages and travelling), £2,447; and miscellaneous expenses (including insurance, interest, etc.), £2,340. The weight and value of fish landed by the vessels up to the 30th April, 1953, were 1,745 cwt. and £11,250. The all-in cost of production of the landings was £12,745.
