Vol. 139 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Austin Car Tax.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he will state in what way the Austin A70 car differs from the A40 in the degree of assembly carried out in Ireland and in the use of the required Irish-made materials which deprives the former make from benefiting from the road tax concession enjoyed by the latter, and other cars such as the Morris Minor.

As the road tax concession applies only to cars over 16 horse power neither the Austin A40 nor the Morris Minor nor any other private car of under 16 horse power benefits from it and therefore the Deputy's question does not arise.
