Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Imports of Box-Making Timber.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state the quantity and value of imports of (a) shooks for egg cases, (b) shooks for butter boxes of the pyramid type, (c) shooks for other butter boxes, (d) other wood prepared for box making, and (e) boxes, cases and crates of wood, complete, in each quarter of 1952 and in the first quarter of 1953.

I propose with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate in the Official Report a statement giving the desired information.

Following is the statement:—

IMPORTS of (a)shooks for egg cases,(b)shooks for butter boxes of pyramid type,(c)shooks for other butter boxes,(d)other wood prepared for box making and(e)boxes, cases and crates of wood, complete, in each quarter of 1952 and in the first quarter of 1953.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state whether licences have been issued for the importation of wooden boxes; and, if so, the quantity covered by such licences.

Duty-free facilities are not normally granted for the importationof wooden boxes and the second part of the question does not, therefore, arise.

Are they being granted at the moment?
