Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answer. - Curragh Turf Supplies.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state (a) who has obtained the contract for the supply of turf to the Curragh; (b) the price per ton delivered which is paid to the contractor; (c) for how many tons the contract provides, and (d) if the lowest tender for supply of turf to the Curragh was accepted.

Contracts for the supply of a total of 4,925 tons of hand-won turf to the Curragh Training Camp have been placed with the following suppliers:—Mr. Francis Burke, Rathangan; Mr. Aloysius Gavigan, Tyrrellspass; Mr. William Hannon, Tyrrellspass; Mr. Patrick Dunne, Tyrrellspass; Mr. John J. Behan, Portarlington. These contracts were placed on the basis of the acceptance of the most favourable tenders.

It is not the practice to disclose details of tenders received.
