Vol. 139 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Showing of Coronation Films.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state what steps the Garda authorities have taken or intend taking with regard to certain persons alleged to have uttered threats to cinema proprietors concerning the showing of Coronation films.

There were no such threats that I know of and none were reported to the police. If there was evidence of the utterance of threats by any person or persons who could be identified there would be a prosecution, and I can assure the Deputy that if he has in his possession or procurement any such evidence and it is furnished to the police there will be a prosecution. Anonymous threats are not so easy to deal with but, as I have said, my information is that there were no threats to cinema proprietors, whether anonymous or not.
