Vol. 139 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Operation of Drainage Schemes.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if it is the intention of his Department to reduce or withdraw the moneys hitherto allocated for field drainage by machinery owned by private owners; and, if so, whether he has satisfied himself that an injustice is not being imposed on people who invested their capital in such machinery on the understanding that there would be long-term employment on land reclamation in being deprived of such employment by the failure of the Government to provide the necessary funds for the operation of drainage schemes by such machinery.

Mr. Walsh

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. The second part does not therefore arise.
