Vol. 141 No. 1

Ceisteanna-Questions. Oral Answers. - Fuel Voucher Scheme.

Mr. A. Byrne

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will make arrangements for the reissue of the fuel vouchers to those who up to recently were in receipt of them, including widows, old age pensioners, unemployed and those in receipt of home assistance, etc., and, further, if he will state on what date he will restore the vouchers or a cash allowance in lieu of them.

Vouchers will be issued under the cheap fuel scheme to persons in the classes referred to for the coming winter commencing on 2nd November next.

Will the Minister not consider the recommencement of the scheme at an earlier date? November is pretty late for an Irish winter.

The winter scheme always starts on the 1st November.

For the last few years the scheme operated over the whole 12 months.

For the commencement of this year.
