asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state (a) the names of local authorities which have adopted Part III of the Local Government (Superannuation) Act, 1948, (b) the date of commencement in each case, (c) the number of established servants entered in the registerof established servants of each local authority pursuant to Section 38 (2) of the Act, (d) the number of established servants subsequently recorded in the register of established servants of each local authority pursuant to Section 63 of the Act, and (e) the number of applications rejected by each local authority pursuant to Section 63 of the Act, on the ground that the applications had not been submitted within the statutory period of six months following the commencement of Part III of the Act.

The information requested at (a) and (b) is in the form of a tabular statement which I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to have circulated in the Official Report. The statistics requested in (c), (d) and (e) are not available in the Department, but I will communicate further with the Deputy when they have been compiled as fully as the records of the local authorities permit.
