Vol. 141 No. 1

Ceisteanna-Questions. Oral Answers. - Decision on Fishery Limits.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is yet in a position to make any statement concerning the application of the decision of the International Court of Justice at the Hague in the case between Norway and Britain to our exclusive fishery limits; and, if not, when he expects to be in a position to make a statementon this subject which has now been under consideration since January, 1952.

I am not yet in a position to make a statement concerning the matter referred to nor can I say when I may be in a position to do so.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary agree that a period of a year and a half should have given him an opportunity of considering the position with relation to our territorial waters?

There is now a memorandum ready for submission to the Government and perhaps the Deputy would wait for a short time because he will then be able to get more definite information on the matter.

Will it be another year and a half?

I would not say so.
