Vol. 141 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Repairs to Bord na Móna Machinery.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state why Bord na Móna have repairs to their machinery done in foundries in the City of Derry when foundries in the Republic are capable of doing such repairs.

While I must make it clear that this is a matter in which I have no function, I have made inquiries and have been informed by the board that no repairs have been effected in foundries in Derry City to machinery owned by the board. Some urgent machine shop repairs necessitated by the breakdown of machinery at the board's Glenties works during the working season have been effected in Derry City for the reason that suitable facilities for the satisfactory repairs were not available nearer to the works.

Could suitable repairs not have been carried out in Letterkenny?

I have no information on the matter except that supplied by the board. I am assured it could not have been done.
