Vol. 141 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cattle for Export.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will indicate the measures he has taken, or proposes to take, to ensure that the present slaughter of cattle under two years of age for export will not be detrimental to the long-term interests of the livestock industry.

Mr. Walsh

Late in 1947, facilities for resumption of veal exports were withheld from registered meat export premises and this position has since been maintained. I am satisfied that no slaughter of young cattle detrimental to the interests of the livestock industry is taking place at meat export premises.
