Vol. 141 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Casual Post Office Workers' Remuneration.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that officers employed in the postal section of his Department on a casual basis have not yet received an increase in remuneration under the recent Civil Service arbitration award; and, if so, if he will state when they will get the increase to which they are entitled.

The majority of the temporary and casual staff employed in my Department have already been paid the increases granted to established civil servants as a result of the Government's decision on the report of the arbitration board's findings. Wehave under consideration the cases of certain temporary classes who do not come within the scope of the award and where pay is not fixed by reference to the rates paid in similar outside employment.
