Vol. 142 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wicklow Harbour.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state (a) when it is intended to proceed with the rehabilitation and repair of the harbour establishments at Wicklow, and (b) the total sum of money to be made available from central funds.

The Wicklow Harbour Commissioners were informed on 10th February, 1953, that, subject to a local contribution of £7,000, a grant from State funds would be made available to meet the cost of certain works of rehabilitation and repair estimated to cost £35,000.

The harbour commissioners have since requested fundamental alterations in the proposed scheme involving substantial additional expenditure. These proposals are being examined in detail but at the present stage I am not in a position to say what the outcome may be. Every effort is being made to have this examination expedited.
