Vol. 142 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Electrification.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will indicate the progress which has been made in the preparation of plans for the electrification of the Ballinagh, Killygarry and Virginia areas, County Cavan.

I am informed by the E.S.B. that the Ballinagh area has been considered by the board on a number of occasions for development under the rural electrification scheme but has not so far been selected. The area will be considered again in due course but I am not in a position to state when development is likely to take place.

I am also informed that the Moyer area, which includes Virginia, will be considered for selection by the board in the near future and that the Killygarry area, in which an official canvass is expected to take place early next year, will be ready for consideration in the late spring or early summer of next year. I am unable to give any indication as to the prospects of these areas being selected for development.
