Vol. 142 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tralee Urban Schemes.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state ifhis Department has received proposals from the Tralee Urban Council for schemes which if carried out would give much-needed employment; and, if so, whether such proposals have been considered; and, further, if he will now state the amount of the grant which his Department is prepared to make for the relief of unemployment in the town.

A scheme for the improvement of footpaths in Tralee Urban District has been received in my Department in connection with the allocation available to the urban district council out of the Employment and Emergency Schemes Vote and is at present under examination. A decision will issue in the near future.

Grants out of this Vote are determined and sanctioned by the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Finance. The grant for the present year which has already been notified to the council is £3,100, subject to a local contribution of £345.
