Vol. 142 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Abbeyfeale Postmaster.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if the applications recently made for the position of sub-postmaster at Abbeyfeale, County Limerick, were referred to a selection board; and, if so, whether the person appointed was the person selected by such board as the most suitable applicant.

In all cases in which a sub-postmastership vacancy is advertised the applications are examined by a selection board. It would not, however, be in accordance with practice to disclose the nature of the report made by the board. Mr. P. O'Connor has been appointed on the usual conditions. There were two other applicants.
