Vol. 142 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - South Kerry Migrants.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware of the large number of applicants from South Kerry for transfer to the Midlands and if, in view of this fact, he will arrange for an increase in the quota allotted last year for South Kerry migrants.

I am aware that a large number of farmers in County Kerry have applied for migration and these applications will be fully considered. Some of the persons approved for migration last spring refused to migrate with the result that only half the holdings allocated for Kerry migrants were so utilised. However, I can assure the Deputy that a number of holdings will be reserved in the coming allotment season for Kerry tenants.
