Vol. 142 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Civil Servants in Dublin Castle.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the number of civil servants at present accommodated in each Department in Dublin Castle.

The number of civil servants at present accommodated in each Department in Dublin Castle is as follows:—

203

Department of Posts and Telegraphs

159

Chief State Solicitor

31

Department of Social Welfare

20

Department of Justice

12

Office of Public Works

8

Department of Industry and Commerce

4

Office of the Controller and Auditor General

4

Department of Education

3

Total:

1,298

Could the Parliamentary Secretary say whether these figures include the accommodation at Ship Street Barracks as distinct from the Castle? Ship Street Barracks are not part of the Castle. If the Parliamentary Secretary wishes I will repeat the question next week asking for these particulars.

Very good.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary say if these figures represent the situation after the full transfer of civil servants from Dublin Castle to Árus Brúgha?

That is not included in the question.

Do the figures include them?

The answer says: "At present accommodated."

Will the Parliamentary Secretary say whether these figures include civil servants who will, in fact, be transferred to vacant offices in other places?

They do.
