asked the Minister for Finance if he will give details of the reason for trips and the cost and destination in each case of Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries who were abroad since June, 1951, and indicate in each case whether the Minister or Parliamentary Secretary stayed in an Irish Embassy.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Visits Abroad by Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries.
The reply to the first part of the question, in so far as it relates to journeys on public business, is in the form of a tabular statement bringing up to date the particulars given in reply to a similar question which the Deputy addressed to me onthe 12th March, 1953. I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate this statement in the Official Report.
In answer to the second part of the question and in further reply to the first part, I am not prepared to ask any Minister or Parliamentary Secretary where he stayed, when abroad on private business or pleasure, any more than I would be prepared to ask a Deputy. Neither am I prepared to ask our representatives abroad for the information sought by the Deputy in relation to the exercise of the entertainment functions appropriate to their posts.
