Vol. 143 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sanatoria Waiting Lists.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state the numbers awaiting admission to sanatoria in (a)Dublin and (b) elsewhere at any recent convenient date.

According to the latest returns received, which relate to 31st ultimo, there were at that date (a) 43 adult patients from Dublin City and (b) 216 adult patients elsewhere awaiting admission to sanatoria. These figures take no account of any vacant beds in sanatoria at that date so that the effective waiting list is somewhat lower.

Would that be the average waiting list?

In the last month, that was the number. It is about average.

Would these figures not indicate that there is insufficient accommodation for T.B. patients in Dublin City?

That is a separate question.

There were beds vacant in Dublin at the same time.
