Vol. 143 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal Telephone Kiosk.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if, in view of the urgent necessity for a telephone in the Tournamilly locality of Barnesmore, County Donegal, he will have a telephone kiosk erected in the locality as soon as convenient.

The erection of a public telephone kiosk in the Tournamilly locality of Barnesmore would not be warranted. Public telephones will be installed in the Barnesmore and Lough Eske sub-post offices under the rural call office scheme.

Is the Minister aware that there is a flight from the land and that unless we give the people that we have on the land amenities in the way of telephone services they will continue to flee from the land?

May I inform the Deputy that I am establishing rural post offices and telephones at a far faster rate than they were provided during his period of office?

My time was short, unfortunately.
