Vol. 143 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Minister's Visits Abroad.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if he will state in regard to visits abroad made by him since 13th June, 1951, (a) the date and duration of each such visit; (b) the country or countries visited; (c) the purpose of each such visit; (d) the number of civil servants and/or officials of State-sponsored corporations who accompanied him on each such visit, and (e) the total expenditure involved, including travel, hotels, entertainment at embassies, legations or elsewhere, whether borne by State funds or by State-sponsored corporations.

If the Deputy would be kind enough to repeat his question in a week's time, I hope to be in a position to give him the information sought.

Is it not a fact that the Minister for External Affairs is at the moment contemplating a trip to New York for New Year's Day and to Australia for St. Patrick's Day?

It is a pity the Deputy would not contemplate a trip much further away.

The tragedy is the Minister comes back.

I wonder would the Minister take a trip to the Sahara Desert and stay there?
