Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Employment in Agriculture.

asked the Taoiseach if he will give particulars of the total number of men engaged in farm work at the end of each quarter in the years 1950, 1951 and 1952, and at the end of the first three quarters of 1953.

Particulars of the numbers of males engaged in farmwork are collected in respect of 1st June only each year. The total number of such workers on that date amounted to 470,006 in 1950, 452,704 in 1951, 441,256 in 1952 and 419,300 in 1953. The figure for 1953 is subject to revision.
