Vol. 143 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Artificial Insemination Stations.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state how many new artificial insemination stations and sub-stations have been opened by his Department since 1st January, 1953; and what plans he has for the opening of stations and sub-stations in 1954.

Mr. Walsh

Since 1st January, 1953, one new artificial insemination main station has been opened by my Department. One new main station has also been opened by the Dairy Disposal Company, Limited; and 17 new sub-stations have been opened by that company, creamery societies and the Dublin or Cork District Milk Boards.

Proposals for the establishment of one new main station for the northwest and of 24 new sub-stations to the various main stations are at present being considered. It is not possible to indicate at this stage how many of these will be opened in 1954.
