Vol. 143 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Estimated Housing Needs.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will indicate the present estimated housing needs of (a) local authorities; (b) small salaried workers availing of the Small Dwellings Acquisition Acts.

(a) The estimate of housing needs of local authorities prepared in 1947 has been reviewed in individual areas but, as no general survey has taken place, it is not possible to give, as at a current date, the overall estimate sought by the Deputy. Particulars of the 1947 estimate and of the progress that has since been made towards meeting it were given in my introductory speech on the Local Government Estimate. (b) No estimate can be made of this figure in advance of applications from the persons concerned.
