Vol. 143 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Holdings Purchased by Land Commission.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the number of holdings purchased by the Land Commission for division in the last two years and whether the market value has been paid in all cases; and, further, how such market value is determined.

During the two years ended 31st March, 1953, lands were acquired, resumed and purchased by the Land Commission from 440 persons. Where the price offered was not acceptable, the price was fixed in accordance with the provision of the Land Acts which require fixation at an amount equal to the market value of the land. The determination of the market value is based on technical evidence.
