Vol. 143 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Land for Afforestation.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that lands have been offered for afforestation in the Cappawhite and Hollyford districts; and, if so, if he will ensure that a survey of the area will be made as soon as possible with a view to acquisition.

A survey of the Cappa-white and Hollyford districts was carried out recently and the report of the survey is under consideration.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what progress has been made by the Forestry Branch in his Department towards the purchase of lands for forestry purposes at Glenturk, Bangor Erris, County Mayo.

An area of about 3,219 acres in the townlands of Glenturk More and Glenturk Beg was inspected in 1950 and was found to be unsuitable for acquisition. No further steps have been taken in the matter.
