Vol. 143 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage of River Nore.

Mr. O'Higgins

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state when it is hoped that the arterial drainage of the River Nore will be commenced and what preliminary steps have so far been taken in connection with this project.

I am not in a position to say when the preparation of a scheme under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945, for the River Nore catchment can be undertaken. In connection with the hydrometric survey which is in progress throughout the country recording gauges have been erected in this catchment to ascertain flow measurement and rainfall run off relations, but, so far, no further preliminary steps have been taken.

Could the Parliamentary Secretary say where the next arterial drainage scheme is to start and when?

That is a separate question.
