Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Small Dwellings Acquisition Acts Statistics.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state in relation to the Small Dwellings Acquisition Acts (1) the total amount of loans (a) sanctioned and (b) received by local authorities up to the 31st March, 1953; (2) the total amount of such loans outstanding on that date; (3) the total sum advanced to borrowers by that date, and (4) the total number of houses in respect of which such borrowing was made, and if he will further state in respect of operations during the year ended 31st March, 1953 (a) the number of local authorities in respect of which loans were sanctioned; (b) the total amount of such loans; (c) the total sum advanced to borrowers and (d) the total number of houses in respect of which these advances were made.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to have it circulated with the Official Report.

Following is the statement: 1 (a), £17,712,926; 1 (b), £15,550,110; 2, £13,191,857; 3, £14,268,358*; 4, 17,353 houses; (a), 25 local authorities; (b), £3,699,810; (c), £3,727,928; (d), 3,032 houses.

*The corresponding figure for the period ended 31st March, 1952, has been revised to £10,540,434 from £10,546,844.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the rate of interest charged in respect of loans under the Small Dwellings Acquisition Acts in the county boroughs of Dublin and Cork in each of the years ended 31st March, 1948 to 1953, inclusive, and the rates of interest at present charged in Cork and Dublin.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the rate of interest charged to local authorities on loans from the Local Loans Fund in respect of the Small Dwellings Acts in each of the years ended 31st March, 1948, to 1953, inclusive, and the rates of interest charged in each of these years by local authorities to persons borrowing under these Acts; and if he will state the rates at present in operation.

(a) In respect of commitments entered into prior to 6th October, 1952, advances are made at the rate of 3¾% and interest is charged on the loans from which the advances are made at the rate of 3¼%.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state in respect of each (1) county borough, (2) urban district or borough and (3) county council area in respect of applications for loans under the Small Dwellings Acquisition Acts (a) the total amount of the loans applied for which were considered by him since the 1st April, 1953; (b) the date upon which each application was originally made; (c) the total amount of the loans sanctioned; (d) the date upon which each loan was sanctioned, and (e) the total amount of each loan paid to the local authority.
