Vol. 143 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Heating of Gaeltacht Glasshouses.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he will consult Bord na Móna experts with a view to examining whether a cheap, economicaland efficient turf-burning heating apparatus could be provided for the glasshouses in Gaeltacht areas, in order to help the producers of tomatoes to provide the crops earlier in the season and thus obtain a better price for their produce.

Mr. Walsh

Such consultations have already taken place and technical reports are now awaited regarding the performance of two types of turf-burning boilers which have been tested under actual conditions in the Donegal Gaeltacht.

Could the Minister say how long these tests have been carried out?

Mr. Walsh

They are being carried out at the moment.

How long are they being carried out?

Mr. Walsh

This year.

I thought we got an answer like that last year.

Ah, well.
