Vol. 143 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Donegal Beet Growing.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether, inview of the beet-growing potential of County Donegal and the repeated demands being made by County Derry Agricultural Committee to the Stor-mont Government for a beet factory, he will have every effort made to establish a joint sugar factory on the Donegal border which would serve both sides of the Border.

The establishment of an additional sugar factory is not at present contemplated, but the Deputy's suggestion will be borne in mind if and when an extension of the industry is under consideration.
