Vol. 143 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Baldonnel Runways.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state how many tenders were received for the construction of the new runways at Baldonnel; whether any tender has been accepted for the work, and, if so, the amount of the tender so accepted.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state in regard to the tenders, which were recently invited for the construction of concrete runways at Baldonnel aerodrome (a) how many tenders were invited; (b) how many were considered; (c) the amount of the tender accepted; (d) whether the tender in question was the lowest submitted, and (e) the amount of each tender submitted.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 10 and 11 together.

Tenders for the construction of concrete runways, taxiways and apron at Baldonnel aerodrome were invited by Press advertisement. No contractor was specially invited to submit a tender.

Eighteen tenders were received and considered. The tender submitted by G. & T. Crampton Limited, Dublin, has been accepted.

It would be contrary to established practice to disclose the other information requested.
