Vol. 143 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Relief Grants.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state what areas in County Dublin have been allocated relief grants for the relief of unemployment.

No grants have yet been made in any of the rural areas in County Dublin as the numbers of unemployment assistance recipients in these areas were not sufficient to warrant any allocations in the proportionate distribution of the moneys hitherto provided for employment schemes in the Employment and Emergency Schemes Vote.

I understand, however, that the Department of Local Government have advised the Dublin County Council that further road grants are now beingmade available in the current financial year, and it is expected that these will provide substantial additional employment in a number of areas. I am not yet in a position to state what additional grants, if any, will be made available in County Dublin from the proposed further allocation of employment schemes grants.
