Vol. 143 No. 10

Written Answer. - Organisation of State Departments.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will set out diagrammatically the organisation of each Department of State, including and showing the title of the head of each branch, section or other unit and the number of officers, by grades or other appropriate classification, in the Department, in such a way as to present an easily understood picture of the organisation, administrative machinery and staff of each Department.

The diagrammatic exposition of the organisation of Departments which the Deputy seeks in his question will be of varying sizes and degrees of complexity according to the Department concerned and reproduction in the normal way in the Official Report would result in the issue of a volume of inordinate size. Moreover, the preparation of such a volume would be attended by considerable difficulties in relation to printing and layout.

In the light of these circumstances, the Deputy's wishes will, perhaps, be met by my having the series of diagrams placed in the Oireachtas Library as soon as they can be compiled and I am arranging accordingly.
