Vol. 143 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - U.N.O. Membership.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if he will state whether this country's application for membership is still before the U.N.O.; and, if so, if he will state when it will again be considered by that body.

Ireland's application for admission to the U.N.O. still stands though it remains blocked by an objection in the Security Council.

A committee composed of the Netherlands, Peru and Egypt was set up on the 16th October to seek a solution among the Great Powers of the persistent deadlock over the admission of new members to U.N.O. That committee has not yet reported back.
