Vol. 143 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Home Assistance Officers' Pay.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state whether the proposals submitted to his Department by the local authority for revised rates of pay for the home assistance officers in County Wexford have been sanctioned by him; and, if not, when he will be in a position to give a decision on the matter.

Proposals involving the reorganisation of assistance and rent collection districts in County Wexford and certain adjustments in remuneration are at present under consideration in my Department in consultation with the Department of Social Welfare. I hope to have a decision conveyed to the local authority at an early date.

Can the Minister say when the proposals were submitted by the local authority?

I am unable to say, but I understand that this is to come into operation in the year beginning on the 1st April, 1954, and that it will be possible to conclude the matter in time for that.
