Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Army Pensions Act.

asked the Minister for Defence if, in view of hardships caused by the operation of the marriage date laid down in the Army pensions code as amended by the Army Pensions Act, 1953, he will consider introducing proposals for legislation to amend this Act.

The extension of the marriage date to the date of the passing of the Army Pensions Act, 1932, was given the most careful consideration and it is not proposed to extend it further.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will indicate the number of appeals still pending under the military service code.

The number of petitions under the Military Service Pensions (Amendment) Act, 1949, which were still pending as on the 30th November, 1953, is 6,601.
