Vol. 144 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Electrification.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state if it is proposed to extend the rural electrification scheme generally to the area east of Croom village, County Limerick, towards Manister and north east towards Kilfeacon crossroads; and, if so, when work will commence on the scheme in the area.

I have been informed by the E.S.B. that the Croom area, which includes Manister and Kilfeacon, has been considered on a number of occasions for development under the rural electrification scheme but has not so far been selected as its returns did not compare favourably with those of other areas awaiting development in the board's Limerick district. While the area will again be considered by the board in due course I am unable to state when development is likely to take place.
