Vol. 144 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Military Services Pensions.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will indicate in respect of County Cork the number of claims under the Military Service Pensions Acts (a) outstanding, (b) granted, and (c) rejected.

I assume that the Deputy is referring to the number of new applications for service certificates submitted by persons from Country Cork following the enactment of the Military Service Pensions (Amendment) Act, 1949, and the number of petitions for the reinvestigation of applications which were refused under the Military Service Pensions Acts, 1924 and 1934, submitted under the same Act.

On that assumption the information required by the Deputy is as follows:—

(a) Number of cases still under consideration by board of assessors and the Referee, 560; (b) number of cases in which service certificates were granted, 115; (c) number of cases in which service certificates were not granted, 1,275.
