Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Trade with Spain, Holland.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state the total value of goods (a) imported from (i) Spain and (ii) Holland during the year ended 31st December, 1953, and (b) exported to each of these countries during the year in question.

During the year ended 31st December, 1953, the value of goods imported from Spain was £1,491,287 and the value of goods imported from the Netherlands was £8,645,397. The value of domestic exports to Spain was £210,894 and the value of domestic exports to the Netherlands was £611,341 during the same period.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state the total value of (a) onions imported from (i) Spain and (ii) Holland during the year ended 31st December, 1953, and (b) potatoes exported to each of these countries during the same period.

During the year ended 31st December, 1953, the value of onions imported from Spain was £138,787, and the value of onions imported from the Netherlands was £28,497. During the same period, the value of potatoes exported to Spain was £132,865. There are no exports of potatoes to the Netherlands recorded for this period.
