Vol. 145 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Public Assistance Services.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state the reasons for the estimated increase of the public assistance services, other than home assistance, in the forthcoming financial year by £421,000.

The increase is due mainly to an estimated addition of more than 2,000 beds to the accommodation available in local authority and other general hospitals and in homes for mentally defective persons, improved dental, ophthalmic and nursing services and payment of increased temporary bonus and other salary increases for local authority staffs.
