Vol. 145 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Access to County Wicklow Strands.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he has any information as to whether agreement has now been reached between those concerned to arrange for free access to the Silver Strand and Brittas Bay beaches for Dublin. Wicklow and other holiday makers during the coming summer season.

Mr. Lynch

I understand from An Bord Fáilte that free access for pedestrians is available to the beaches at Silver Strand and Brittas Bay but that the landowners charge a small fee for the parking of cars. The board is still in consultation with the local authority concerning provision of free access for cars to the beach at Brittas Bay.

So as to give the Parliamentary Secretary accurate information, the public body have refused to commandeer private property.
